Amit Dass

Chief Executive Officer

Amit joined Brevis as CEO in July 2022. Prior to this he worked for almost a decade in private equity backed technology companies, most recently as Managing Director, Global Operations at Compliance Solutions Strategies (CSS). His vision is to grow Brevis to be a leading law firm and build an organisational culture focussed on delivering the highest quality client experience. Amit holds an Executive MBA from Bayes Business School and is a Chartered Management Accountant.

Aiken is joint co-founder of Brevis, alongside his dad, Gary. It was Aiken’s bright idea to shake up the world of conveyancing by bringing a new, client-focussed approach to the entire system. He’s worked in the legal industry since 2016 and has been pivotal in shaping how the company operates today. He’s committed to empowering clients’ knowledge throughout the home move process and is on hand to answer their queries and questions. With his in-depth knowledge and hands-on approach, he and our team of account managers, make sure each and every home move stays on track.

Gary Verschuur

Chairman & Founder

Gary, alongside his son, Aiken, is co-founder of Brevis and our Chairman. He oversees pretty much everything and his approach to conveyancing is reflected in the company’s name - Brevis, a Latin word meaning brief, concise, succinct. Gary’s long and varied career spanning four decades has included setting up several successful start-ups, as well as a one-year spell in Buenos Aires working for Correo Argentino (Argentina’s postal service). Gary’s law firm, FMC Law, has recovered over £250million on behalf its clients since 2016.

Asad Rana

Director & Compliance Officer

Asad is one of Brevis’ directors and our compliance officer. A solicitor since 2005, he completed his LLB Honours degree at Queen Mary University of London and his Legal Practice Course at the London College of Law. Alongside supervision and compliance, Asad specialises in employment, civil litigation, charity law and commercial leases.

David Keighley

Director & Head of Residential Property

David is one of Brevis’ directors and head of our residential property department. A solicitor since 1982, he started working here in 2020. Over the last decade David has delivered hundreds of training sessions to solicitors and others working in conveyancing. He’s a specialist in shared ownership property law. He also writes for publications including an annual section for the industry’s flagship guide: the Law Society’s Conveyancing Handbook.

Aansa Hussain Profile

Aansa Hussain

Residential Conveyancer

Aansa’s string of legal qualifications include LLB, FCilex and LLM, amongst others. Since 2005 Aansa has worked in residential conveyancing for a number of large law firms and has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has acted for both personal and corporate clients and is passionate about offering her clients a superb service. Aansa is really good at making her clients feel valued and supported throughout their journey with Brevis.

Armina Yusefi

Paralegal & Conveyancing Support

Armina graduated with a Law degree from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2020. Since then, and as she focusses on fully qualifying as a solicitor, she has further extended her knowledge by studying for an LPC & LLM at the University of Law. After completing this course with a distinction, she has been working in conveyancing as a paralegal. Throughout her career, Armina has made time to give back to her local community, volunteering with Citizens Advice and other support organisations. She is also a talented linguist; she already speaks English and Persian and is now learning Spanish to add to her repertoire.

Chirag qualified as a solicitor in 2016, after 10 years working in property law and conveyancing. He brings tons of experience and knowledge to all his property dealings and he prides himself on nurturing really good relationships with his clients. He likes to make sure he’s available and responsive throughout every stage of his clients home move.

Khiah Pottinger

Conveyancing Paralegal

Khiah is a Conveyancing Paralegal at Brevis and has been working in the legal industry for two years since graduating from Bournemouth University in 2020. Khiah manages her own caseloads of property transactions and is committed to providing transparent legal advice to her clients. She is always contactable if you have any questions and understands the importance of keeping clients in the loop.

Lauren Jarmain-Chew

Conveyancing Paralegal

Lauren has over 10 years’ conveyancing experience. After landing a role as a legal secretary she steadily worked her way up to a paralegal, continuously adding to her host of qualifications, whilst looking after clients and managing her own sale and purchase accounts. Lauren is a super allrounder, committed to providing a reliable service, not only to her clients but also to estate agents, solicitors and all other parties involved in a transaction.

Sameena Ahmed

Conveyancing Paralegal

Sameena is a Conveyancing Paralegal at Brevis.  She deals with all aspects of her clients’ home move, and puts everything into making sure they buy or sell their property as quickly and easily as possible.  Because she understands how stressful a home move can be, she likes to do all she can to alleviate this, so that her clients’ experience is as hassle-free and enjoyable as possible. Sameena has completed her Level 3 course with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and is halfway through her level 6, hoping to fully qualify in the very near future.

Shamima Hussain

Solicitor

Shamima qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and has over 9 years’ experience in advising clients about immigration issues. Previously a partner in a London law firm, her in-depth knowledge of the UK visa and immigration system enables her to deal with a wide range of cases for both corporate and private clients. Shamima regularly deals with family, European Economic Area, long residence, settlement applications and appeals. Her flexible, forward-thinking approach ensures her clients experience the highest standards throughout their immigration journey.

Sophie Humfrey Profile

Sophie Humfrey

Residential Conveyancer

Sophie joined Brevis as a newly qualified lawyer after securing a training contract in 2018 and qualifying in July 2021. She already has five years experience in handling home sales and purchases in a competitive London market. Sophie enjoys getting to know her clients personally, prioritising their timescales and providing the best service she can. She is highly organised and her clients know she’ll always handle their cases with great care and diligence.

Mandie Sewa

Head of Immigration

Mandie has practised in the field of immigration, nationality, and human rights law for over 20 years. She has been a Head of Department and Partner in top 100 law firms, including two of the Big 4, and has been recognised for her work in the Legal 500. She is an experienced trainer, lecturing at the University of Law and various commercial and educational organisations, and she regularly advises businesses about issues such as the prevention of illegal working and sponsor licensing. She also helps individuals with their personal immigration matters and is often praised for finding practical solutions to complex legal problems.
